FLORENCE
Florence is known in all the world thanks to the work of great artitsts and scientists who during centuries, have created monuments and beautiful works of art. The most important artists of italian Renaissance, the hightest artistic period of Florence, are tuscans. Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Brunelleschi, Galilei etc. are just a few of personalities that have created the masterpieces of the city.
IMPRUNETA
Impruneta is situated 13 Km south of Florence, on the beautiful hills between Greve Valley and Ema Valley. From here you can get Greve in Chianti, destination for all the lovers of wine, and follow on the old road between wineyards and villages to Siena or San Gimignano, the old medieval towers town.
History:
Impruneta and the surrounding area, belonged to Buondelmonti family since X century. This family had a very important role in the warfull politics of medieval Florence. Impruneta have a very old tradition about terracotta jar, brick and tiles and other religious little statues. You can visit some of furnaces and it’s very interesting to see how they made tipycal imprunetan’s decoration pot. In Impruneta’s furnaces have been made the roof tiles of the Florence’s Dome.
About Impruneta:
Impruneta have a famous ancient Cathedral with a famous pictures of Virgin Mary. In the main square, every year, on 18th of October there is a big weekly fair.
